Topic: Leveraging Agile Methods in Learning and Development, ft. Megan Torrence!

Description:

L&D projects can leverage methods used by agile teams to deliver their work on time, on budget, and in line with expectations, even as those expectations change. We've got a treat this month as nationally renowned L&D expert Megan Torrence joins us to share her expertise!

In this session, we’ll start with a quick definition of Agile and its use within the L&D space, and then explore how L&D teams that use Agile handle constant change, build relationships, and finish the job.

In this session, you will learn how to:

  • Build a business case for using Agile methods in L&D.
  • Kick off an Agile team for success and convey a willingness to accept change in the project.
  • Manage an L&D project using Agile-influenced methods for estimating, iterating, and planning the work.

Megan Torrance is CEO of TorranceLearning, helping organizations connect learning strategy to design, development, data & performance. With over 25 years of experience in learning design, deployment & consulting, she devotes considerable time to sharing Agile methods for learning experience design & xAPI.

Megan is the author of Agile for Instructional Designers, The Quick Guide to LLAMA, and Making Sense of xAPI. Megan is also an eCornell Facilitator in Women's Executive Leadership.

The Technology/E-learning Special Interest Group (SIG) engages the talent development community in collaborative discussion and workshops to solve problems, spark ideas, and expand their knowledge and skills around e-learning and the use of technology to support training. The group typically meets on the first Friday of the month from 8:00-9:30 a.m., with networking at 8:00 and the main program at 8:30. Mark your calendars and plan to attend every month!
