A Day at Dwolla: Building a Company and Disrupting an Industry

At Dwolla we are building a payment network to disrupt the current industry and put more money back in the local, national and global economy by offering real-time and transparent payments.

In order to build such a disruptive company in a risk-averse town, we learn on the go and grow from mistakes.

Here are a few things that will be highlighted:
  • How we inspire passion in employees and customers
  • How we validate our growth through successes and failures
  • Why we build products, break them and fix them on a daily basis
  • How we train what hasn’t been done before

About Max Farrell

Max Farrell is a Community Builder at local tech startup Dwolla.  With regular days consisting of support, sales, business development, risk mitigation and improving the customer experience, he has embraced the jack-of-all-trades role that comes from growing with a startup.  After being with Dwolla for over a year, he has been a part of a surge in the company all while graduating from Grinnell College and settling into Des Moines.  Max is excited to share his story and join Central Iowa ASTD to discuss how training and development will transpire as Dwolla scales.
