This session will focus on the various components of Talent Management and how technology can facilitate their effective use.

  • Create a Talent Management Model to use in their organization
  • Understand how technology can enable Talent Management processes

About Franci Phelan

Franci Phelan’s expertise in the human resources field led her to the top of many companies. Franci is responsible for providing the vital link between the organization’s talented staff and the leadership team, as well as, ensuring that all the elements of Grow People (HR) are functioning for Kum & Go and affiliate businesses. She designs and executes strategies to ensure that the organization remains a preferred workplace, supporting all associates.

Franci joined Kum & Go with an extensive background in human resources, including senior level positions in management and organizational development, change management, succession planning, strategy, integration, and international assignments. Prior to joining the foundation, she served as chief human resources officer with The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She was accountable for all elements of the human resources function for the Foundation and was a member of the senior leadership team. She also brings extensive experience from her tenure at DuPont/Pioneer, Cummins Engine Company, Miller Brewing Company, TDS Telecom, Principal Financial Group, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and The Circle K Corporation.

Franci’s community involvement includes service on the board of directors for Hospice of Central Iowa, Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (IJAG), Special Olympics of Central Iowa, Des Moines Public Library, and Des Moines Higher Education Institution. She has been involved with the United Way and continues to advise The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the National Council on Ag Education.

Franci holds a Master of Science in management from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelor of Arts in business communication from Arizona State University. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Human & Organizational Learning with George Washington University. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR).
